About Me

My photo
I passionate about photography and travel. There are two types of photographs that I enjoy. 1. The type that you take and may only need some tweaks such as exposure or saturation. 2. The type that contains more post-processing work done to it so at the end it’s more of an abstract work of art. This blog is a documentation of both along with some travel experiences. You will be able to see more of my photography at www.dianadominguezphotography and at www.ddfoto.etsy.com

Ready to hang Wall Art/Photography

I recently decided to do something different with my photography. I started to adhere photos to different size wooden cradle boxes, painting the sides black or white and coating the top of the print with several coats of varnish. See the photos with this post. The example here is a photograph I took in Savannah, Georgia of a replica of the famous statue on the cover of the book, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil". Turns out that the statue which was originally in a cemetary was removed and placed in a house museum due to too many people visiting the statue/grave and disrespecting the grave site. It's been a while

Well, it has been a couple of weeks since my last post. My intention was to post at least three times a week but other things like planning and then canceling a vacation and also dating have side tracked me. Ok but now I'm back. So I was hoping to go to Colombia South America this upcoming Friday but do to very bad weather (tons of rain and flooding) and an increasing amount of violence in one particular city, Cali, I have cancelled. The island of Gorgona was on the list of places to visit and is the reason I received a expensive yellow fever shot. So now I'm just going to chill off the coast of South Carolina and Georgia. These states don't seem so exotic as South America but I'll be going to a few places that I've never been before such as Savannah, Jekyel Island and Cumberland Island. There will be some sense of adventure in these unseen locations (by my eyes that is and camera). I'm super excited to see what photography I come away with on this adventurous trip. I just pray that it's sunny and doesn't rain!

Among Many Seashells Photograph

I find this bucket of seashells in a local antique shop and was drawn to photograph it. Amazing how nature can offer so many types of contrasting seashells.

Black and white photo during spring.

“Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still.”
Dorothea Lange

I took this photo on a spring day of a dead leaf at Jones Gap Park. How ironic as plants and flowers were coming to life again here lay this leaf in a sort of curved, fetal position. I used a black and white film and developed it myself.
